COPPELL (AP) — Retail average gasoline prices in Texas are holding steady this week at $1.97 per gallon.
AAA Texas, in its weekly report Thursday, found Fort Worth and El Paso, averaging $2.03, have the most expensive fuel among major Texas cities. San Antonio has the cheapest, at $1.91.
The statewide average is 40 cents less than a year ago.
The national average this week for unleaded regular fuel also is unchanged, at $2.13.
The auto club says gasoline supplies nationally are likely to end August at their highest level ever. Combine with relatively low oil prices, that means pump prices are likely to remain cheap through the rest of the summer and into the fall.
