Suspect In Custody After Body Found Inside Burning House In Celina

CELINA, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - Authorities in Collin County have taken a suspect into custody after a body was found inside a burning house Wednesday, officials said.

Firefighters responded to a house fire in Celina at around 11:30 a.m. near Greenway Avenue and Emilia Drive. After putting out the fire, crews found a body inside, according to officials.

The victim's identity or cause of death has not yet been released.

The city's mayor, Sean Terry, said a suspect was taken into custody but did not say where. Terry said the suspect was known to authorities, but further information was not immediately released.

Surrounding schools had been placed on lockdown due to a heavy presence by authorities during their search. Those lockdowns have been lifted.

Terry said authorities believe the incident was isolated and that there is no threat to the public.
