Study Says Texas Has The Nation's Worst Drivers

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Millions of people across the United States are skipping the airport this holiday season and opting for a road trip. But drivers in Texas might want to take extra caution, because the Lone Star State has some of the worst drivers in the country, according to a new study.

Car Insurance Comparison analyzed information published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and found that Texas and Louisiana tied for having the nation's worst drivers. This is a jump up three spots from last year's review.

The study looked at road fatalities, failure to obey road rules, drunk driving incidents and more. State transportation officials have said that at least one person has died on Texas roads every day for the past 16 years.

Researchers suggest that drivers buckle up and pay better attention while on Texas roads.
