FORT WORTH (CBS 11 NEWS) - Thursday's storms collapsed an entire wall at a vacant building in the Fort Worth Stockyards.

Even though there's no roof and the back wall is completely gone, engineers and owners are hopeful the building can be salvaged.

"I wanted to have some impression of Texas and cowboys and something like that," Manfred Broch told us.

Broch is a tourist in from Germany.  The history and look of the Fort Worth Stockyards are what drew him to town.

"I was born in a castle and that's why am interested in old buildings," he explained.

But today, the horses and cowboys weren't the only things to see.  As the clean up began, people stopped and stared in amazement at a 90-year-old building, once a Masonic lodge and flop house, left in shambles.

"It's really sad," Steve Murrin said.

Murrin is known as the "Mayor of the Stockyards" and is part owner of several businesses and the damaged building.

Murrin believes this building can be saved, and he's working closely with engineers to keep the integrity of the stockyards intact.

"The fact of the matter is, people don't come to the Fort Worth Stockyards to see new buildings.  They want to see the old ones," Murrin added.

Once cleanup is done, engineers will start working on stabilizing the walls that are left.  Then they'll work on bigger restoration plans for this building.
