Steady Chances Of Spotty Rain

We are in day two of an impressive tropical plume of moisture streaming out of western Mexico from (now) Tropical Storm Odile:

While this system will produce extensive flooding across the southwest it will produce only meager rains for us. Without a distinct frontal boundary to focus this moisture we'll continue to have scattered rain across our area. We start this morning with spotty showers here and there along with cloudy, muggy conditions. By afternoon the daytime heating will likely be enough to get some storms going. Most of this should be south:

As the moisture continues to pile in the rain chances improve just a little more on Wednesday:

It'll be tough to shake this set-up without a strong front or high pressure system coming in . Instead we'll have a front plains low form over Colorado that will race to the Great Lakes heading in Friday. This system will pull out our persistent weather pattern into the central plains and Ohio Valley. Here are the rain chances over the next three days. Nothing wide-spread and in isolated areas sometimes heavy rain in the forecast until Thursday:

Some sunshine on Friday and Saturday will get us into the 90's. Another cold front arrives on Sunday- good rain chances to end the weekend (the last one of Summer: the Autumnal Equinox is on Monday). In its wake we should finally enjoy some drier air. Highs will be in the low 80's:
