SAN ANTONIO (CBSDFW.COM) - State Rep. Laura Thompson, an independent from San Antonio, was arrested Thursday on a family violence charge stemming from a past incident, according to online jail records the San Antonio Express News is reporting.

The article states:

Thompson, who represents Texas House District 120, was taken into custody Thursday morning on a Class A misdemeanor charge of assault with bodily injury to a family member. She bonded out less than an hour later, according to Bexar County Jail records.

Thompson, 59, won a special election earlier this year and is up for re-election on November 8.

She is the first independent to serve in the Texas Legislature in more than 50 years.
