Spin-Cyclists Raise Money To Combat Ovarian Cancer
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/CBS 11 News) - More than 300 people participated in "Wheel to Survive," a six-hour indoor cycling event, in Dallas Sunday to raise money for the fight against Ovarian Cancer.
The event lasted from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center on Northaven Road.
The event is sponsored by the Be the Difference Foundation, whose mission is to "help women increase their chance of survival of ovarian cancer."
Individual riders were required to pledge a minimum of $500. Relay teams were required to pledge at least $250 for each rider.
According to the event's website, more than $335,000 was raised among 318 riders.
The foundation focusing on raising awareness and money to fund programs for women fighting ovarian cancer and to provide money for cure research.
"There's just so much excitement and hope that everybody wants to be a part of it - that's why we want more people to know about it - we can fill this whole gym up with riders next year," Julie Shrell, founder of the Be the Difference Foundation, said.
