DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A South Dallas neighborhood near Dowdy Ferry and Tea Garden Road is a dumping ground for both living and dead dogs.

"It's depressing. Sometimes I just want to go hide in a corner and not see this stuff," said Dallas resident, Marina Tarashevska.

Tarashevska recorded video of bags and bags of discarded pets - tossed out like pieces of trash.

"And there are some more. It smells so bad," said Tarashevska about the trash bags.

She showed CBS11 News first-hand nearly 12 dead dogs discarded in bags right in plain sight. Despite years of reporting the atrocities, Tarashevska keeps finding the discarded animals.

"I don't think I can reason with people who do this kind of stuff. I cannot understand them at all,' said Tarashevska.

Perhaps more concerning, are the live dogs who are injured and abandoned to die.

"They actually need to go ahead and bulldoze everything down and start from scratch," said Dallas resident Scott Pierce.

He lives feet from the dumping ground and said it's been happening for years.

The city of Dallas said "there's no evidence that this was the result of illegal activity other than the fact that it was illegal dumping."

Tarashevska said until residents actually see in person the horrors she finds, stopping it will be nearly impossible.

"I don't want to upset people but at the same time, we need to bring awareness to this," she said.

The city currently has four mobile cameras it's using to crackdown on illegal dumping right now. In a few months investigators will get 14 more cameras in hopes of catching whoever is responsible for the inhumane act.
