IRVING (105.3 THE FAN) - Sources tell 105.3 The Fan that middle linebacker Rolando McClain is at Valley Ranch this morning as the Cowboys begin their mandatory minicamp.

McClain, who played at a Pro Bowl level for Dallas last season at middle linebacker, this offseason signed what amounts to a vet's-minimum deal with $750,000 base salary. He recently underwent arthroscopic knee surgery, billed as one of the reasons he stayed away from the team during the previous three weeks' OTAs.

"Well, the minicamp is mandatory," Garrett said last week. "It's the only thing in the offseason that is mandatory, so it's important for us to make sure that's clear to everybody and express that to our players.''

It's not clear whether McClain will participate in this week's workouts, as newcomer veteran Jasper Brinkley and young Anthony Hitchens will likely continue to fill in. But it is clear McClain will not be fined, as might have been the case had he continued to miss.
