Smaller Storm Chances
The relentless heat of July can take a significant (and rapid) break when storms hit. Yesterday at DFW Airport rain along with a 56-mph wind gust hit just as we were approaching the hottest part of the day. Within 30 minutes the temperature had dropped from 95° to 73°.
Temperatures started in the low 70's this morning thanks to yesterday's afternoon cool down. Sunshine and south wind will quickly get us to the mid-90's:
This morning the upper-air disturbance that help trigger the storms yesterday has drifted just a little further east.
We have decent storm chances across our southern counties as well as our eastern counties. These storms could produce damaging winds and brief heavy rain as well as copious lightning. Storms will be east of our area tomorrow
Storm chances push even further east tomorrow. After that they all but disappear for a couple of days as the ridge of high pressure builds across the lower third of the United States by Thursday:
