19-year-old fatally shot at West Dallas convenience store, police say

Deadly shooting at West Dallas gas station

One person was fatally shot at a West Dallas convenience store Sunday morning, police said. 

The Dallas Police Department said just before 2:50 a.m., officers responded to a shooting call at a 7-Eleven, located in the 1800 block of Sylvan Avenue. When they arrived, officers found one person lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. 

Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived and transported the victim, later identified as 19-year-old Juan Cardoza, to the hospital, where he died. 

Dallas PD said the suspect, later identified as Michael White, remained at the scene and was taken to police headquarters; however, no charges have been listed so far. The department said the investigation will be referred to the Dallas County Grand Jury.
