Several Seriously Injured In Burleson Head-On Collision

BURLESON (CBSDFW.COM) — Two children were placed on "trauma alert" and three adults were in critical or serious condition after a head-on collision in Burelson Sunday night, emergency crews say.

The head-on collision happened in the 7100 block of Farm to Market Road 917 near Interstate 35W in Johnson County, according to a MedStar representative. The crash left two children put on what MedStar calls "trauma alert," two adults in serious condition and one adult in critical condition. Two medical helicopters were called to the scene.

MedStar said both children were taken to Cook Children's Hospital — one by air and one by ground. Their ages were unknown.

The adults were taken to various hospitals, according to MedStar. Two women were taken to John Peter Smith Hospital. One was airlifted in critical condition, and the other was taken by ground in serious condition. A man was taken by ground to Harris Methodist Hospital in serious condition.

MedStar said there was a secondary crash in the backup caused by the head-on collision. Five people were treated for there for minor injuries.

Both lanes of FM 917 were shut down, according to Burleson Police.

First responders are working a head-on collision in the 7100-block of FM 917, east of Dollar General. Both lanes are shut down and may remain closed for sometime. Please seek an alternate route.
