SB 522 Approved, Allows Marriage License Denials Based On 'Religious Belief'
AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) - The House Committee on State Affairs just voted 8-3 on SB 522 to allow county clerks to cite "religious belief" to decline to sign marriage licenses, according to the Austin American-Statesman.
Bill lets clerks opt out over religious belief. Counties would have to ensure other employees available to issue marriage licenses. #txlege https://t.co/SBcn6DRx1t
