Thought cooking and carving one turkey was a challenge? Try more than 100!

The kitchen at the Salvation Army homeless shelter off Harry Hines in Dallas is a frenzy of activity. They're expecting 2,000 people for Thanksgiving Dinner, a meal of that size takes a lot of prep work.

Salvation Army Director of Operations Jeff Upperman says they'll be serving more than 500 pounds each of dressing, green beans, mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes, 1,200 pounds of turkey, 1,900 rolls, 2,000 slices of pumpkin pie, 23 gallons of gravy, and 285 pounds of cranberry sauce.

He says volunteers get just as much if not more out of the day than the recipients. They have to sign up to help months in advance.
