ROWLETT (CBSDFW.COM) - With tornado recovery efforts in their second week, some worry people may lose focus on the ongoing needs of victims. That's why local businesses and restaurants are teaming up to donate a portion of their sales for Give Back Day.

It's inevitable that many of those who volunteered right after the tornadoes have to get back to their daily lives.  That's one of the reasons businesses like the Chili's on Lakeview Parkway in Rowlett and hundreds like it are making relief efforts as easy as ordering a meal.

Customers like Marget Holub love knowing that 15% of their bill will go to help Red Cross tornado relief.

"It makes me cry actually to know that Chili's is going to do that," Holub said.

Grateful that her own home was spared, she can't help wishing for more ways to help neighbors she sees every day.

"They don't have a home.  I'm driving past it.  It's awful.  It's leveled, to the ground, and it just makes you sick," Holub said.

Hundreds of restaurants have committed to donating a portion of the days sales to various charities helping tornado victims.  Papa John's DFW locations are giving 25% of sales to The Salvation Army.

Rug Doctor CEO Travis Lewis ordered pizzas for his Plano company's staff to help with relief efforts.  He says he'll also encourage employees to use company volunteer time to help directly.

"We're really going to encourage them to use this as a reminder, there's still a lot of cleanup to do in Rowlett and Garland, and we hope that they'll go serve their community in that way," Lewis said.
