Remarkable Today, Winter by Monday

Today's high for St. Valentine's Day reached into the upper 70's. What a remarkable day!

Clouds will come in overnight from a system moving up from the southwest. An arctic front moves in tomorrow night; the front will likely stall over north Texas tomorrow afternoon and present a wide range of temperatures:

Rain starts as just sprinkles in the afternoon but picks up by night:

As temperatures cool overnight into Monday we'll have light freezing rain start to fall over our northern counties to northwest:

This should have minor impact on the roads as temperatures will likely be just around freezing in the effected areas. Some minor icing is possible elevated surfaces including bridges and overpasses:

It'll change over to a cold rain on Monday. The rain should taper off by afternoon but highs will only reach to around 40°. Then another storm moves in from the west on Monday night. It'll likely start as a light mix of precipitation overnight in the Metroplex. By morning it'll be a light snow:

We could see snow accumulate on the grassy areas and on top of cars. Temperatures are only getting down to around freezing Tuesday morning so impacts are expect to be small on the roadways:

Many have the day off Monday but will the kids go back to school on Tuesday? They haven't used any snow days this year and with a short week already scheduled it'll be tempting to not run the buses.

The precipitation will change over to a mix by mid-morning as it comes to an end. We are expecting a high in the mid-40's on Tuesday so if we do have any road problems in the morning they won't be around by the evening commute back home.

The cold weather doesn't look to stick around. We'll be back into the 60's again by next weekend with rain in the forecast:
