Rare Lincoln Memorabilia To Be Auctioned In Dallas

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A huge collection of American History is getting ready to go on the auction block this Saturday in Dallas.
Donald P. Dow's collection of Lincolniana as it's called features more than 300 lots of rare Abraham Lincoln memorabilia.
According to Don Ackerman from Heritage Auction's the items are wide ranging for all Lincoln collector tastes.
Among countless items Ackerman said they have " a blood stain pillow case or linen where Lincoln lay on" as well as a "wreath made from hair Lincoln's horse old Bob."
He added " a lot of these things are one of a kind. They haven't been on the market for 30 years, and this is an opportunity for people to acquire them,"
A lock of President Abraham Lincoln's hair will be for sale starting at $10,000 this weekend in Dallas.
Also fragment of an 1862 letter written by Lincoln that's addressed to a Baltimore, Maryland, attorney.
In the letter, Lincoln says the Civil War isn't going well for the Union, but vows to keep fighting. The opening bid for the letter is $10,000.
A handwritten military arrest warrant for Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth, is also up for grabs.
Dow says his father, who died five years ago, was fascinated with presidential assassinations.
The bids range in price as well. The cheapest bid begins at 100 dollars and they go up beyond $10, 000 dollars.
The auction begins promptly at 10 A-M on Saturday.
