DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The Memorial Day holiday means a trip to the lake for many North Texans. But heavy rain has wrought havoc with area lakes in the days leading up to the long weekend.

"The lake levels have changed," explained Clay Church with the Army Corps of Engineers, "and if someone is out and about on one of our lakes, they just need to be extremely careful with those changing lake levels."

Church added that a lot of popular recreation areas are closed over the weekend.
