Prisoner Transport Van Involved In Accident

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) -  A Tarrant County Sherrif's transport van carrying ten prisoners was involved in a crash in Fort Worth on Tuesday afternoon.

The off-ramp from I-35W north to Meacham Blvd was temporarily closed due to the accident.

Investigators at the scene say a white SUV crashed into the back of the Tarrant County prisoner transport van.

Emergency responders confirm they have a total of 13 people being treated for injuries at different area hospitals.

According to authorities, nine people suffered minor injuries, while the other four suffered moderate injuries.

A majority of the injuries were described as back and knee issues, while at least one or two patients may have suffered fractures.

The van was on its way to the to the Greenbay unit in north Fort worth.
