Priceless Memory Of Man's Stepfather Stolen From Cedar Hill Porch

CEDAR HILL (CBS11) - Cedar Hill resident Dion Martin had one huge connection with his stepfather who died this year. Their love of San Francisco 49ers football.

"It was the classic gold forty -- this one!" Martin said pointing to a display of NFL gear on a phone screen.

Martin's mother mailed him one of the most valued memories of his stepfather... a shimmering gold, 1980's era jacket with red lettering like his father wore.

"Truthfully, it's irreplaceable," Martin said softly. "Because it belonged to my dad. He loved it and it was going to be given to me."

The mailman delivered the irreplaceable link to Martin's father.

"And then the next time that the video picks up, because it picks up automatically, we saw the lady who walks through the yard and just takes the package," said Martin's wife Chejuana.

In the video, you see a woman with a cigarette in her mouth grab the package, walk back to the street, climb into the passenger side door of a red pickup -- and the link to Martin's step-father was gone.

"I was like, "Wait a minute! That's my husband's package!" And knowing what was in it? That's what really broke my heart," Chejuana said.

"I'm sorry," Martin apologized as he choked back tears. "I'm sorry. But it hurts. I don't want people to think this is a material thing, you know. It's just something I loved about him that I had. And for people to take that from me it's just kind of messed up, you know?"

"Even though he had some really beautiful things that his stepfather has left behind, that was one of those things that they shared," Chejuana said. "So, to have the jacket back is really all we want."

"They don't understand what comes in those packages for people," Martin said. "They are messing with people's families, peoples emotions, peoples lives. It is just not a good thing."
