CORSICANA (CBSDFW.COM) - Authorities in Corsicana are investigating a possible child abduction attempt. The incident happened at about 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials, a female student was in the 2000 block of West 12th Avenue when she was approached by a man in a truck. The suspect asked the young girl if she wanted a puppy. The student said no and ran away from the scene as the suspect drove away.

The girl was not harmed during this incident.

Police in Corsicana and the Coriscana Independent School District were notified about the situation, but have few other details to offer.

"We want to be sure our parents and students are always aware of their surroundings," added Chief Randy Ratliff. "The student in this case did the right thing by running away and reporting the information to the police."

The suspect has only been described as a white male in his 30s with brown hair. He was driving a gold truck, perhaps a Ford F-150. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Corsicana Police Department.
