MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) - Police are looking for a driver who hit and killed a teenager along Highway 80 in east Dallas County on Thursday night.

Police said that a 17-year-old driver crashed his car into a bridge pillar at Interstate-30 and Collins Road around 10:00 p.m. Thursday. Reports stated that the teen then walked up an embankment onto Highway 80, possibly to find help.

Officials said that the teen was hit and killed by an SUV. That vehicle did not stop to render aid, according to witnesses, and kept going east toward Forney.

The victim was later identified as Joseph Huerta, a student from North Mesquite High School. Counselors were at the campus early Friday to help students cope with the loss.
