Police: 4 people shot dead in Northwest Dallas apartment; 2 arrested

DALLAS (CBSNewsTexas.com) — Four people are dead and two are in custody following a shooting inside a Northwest Dallas apartment Sunday evening.

Around 7:10 p.m. March 12, police responded to a shooting call at a complex in the 3500 block of Villaverde Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found two men and two women shot dead at the scene. Police said an infant was also inside the apartment during the shooting but was not hurt.

The victims have been identified as Juan Diego Cruz, 18; Lupe Cruz, 24; Jasmine Borjas Santos, 20; and Fatima Guadalupe Alvarado Fuentes, 21.

Two hours later, around 9:30 p.m., officers located the suspect vehicle in the 2700 block of Northaven Road and arrested two suspects. They have since been identified as Artemio Maldonado, 18, and Azucena Sanchez, 20.

Both Maldonado and Sanchez were taken to the Dallas County Jail and have been charged with capital murder.
