GRAPEVINE (CBSDFW.COM) - A dismembered body, burned on sight at Grapevine Lake, has local detectives and the FBI searching a wooded park area in Grapevine.

Grapevine police spokesman Sgt. Robert Eberling said the body was found around 6:30 a.m. at Acorn Woods Park after a call was made to police reporting that a body was found in the woods.

"It is a small park next to the lake. It's partially wooded. The location of the body was several yards away from the parking spaces of the park itself," said Sgt. Eberling.

After hours at the scene, Grapevine police confirmed that the body had been burned and dismembered. The condition of the body is so bad that officials say it is unknown whether the victim is male or female.

The park is located in the 1000 block of Oak Grove Loop South, but is fairly dense in some areas. "It is a wooded park, but there are walking trials throughout the park here," Eberling explained. "And it's really close to a cove that is near the lake."

Crime scene investigators and detectives were still at the scene at 1:45 p.m. Officials would not confirm any other information about the deceased, like believed age or race, but did say the FBI had been contacted to "utilize their resources."

Acorn Woods remains closed to the public. Oak Grove Loop and a jogging path that goes through the park was also blocked off.

Police confirmed they have not found the person who initially reported the body. The crime scene investigation also includes a search of the lake near the Arbor Woods section.
