PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - A memorial continues to grow at the site where a North Texas teen was killed in a single-car accident that severely injured a passenger.

Police say Ben Baker was driving northbound on Preston Road, when his SUV left the road and crashed into a traffic pole. The SUV had caught fire by the time drivers in the area stopped to help.

The Good Samaritans were able to pull the passenger, 18-year-old Daniel Payton Mushock, out of the vehicle. When they returned to try and help Baker the SUV was engulfed in flames and they couldn't reach him.

Investigators say the crash happened around 2 a.m. and they still aren't sure what caused the 18-year-old to veer off the road.

Friends and co-workers of Baker stopped by the crash site to lay flowers and remember the teenager, who had just graduated high school and was set to attend Baylor University in August.

Remembering Baker Melina Christensen said. "Ben was so smart. He was so funny and he had so many friends. I don't think he ever had enemies. Everyone loved him and he was really humble."

Passenger Mushock was taken to an area hospital with a severe leg injury, but is expected to survive.
