Off-duty Plano officer, man exchange gunfire at convenience store

UPDATE: Arrest after shootout between suspect and off-duty Plano police officer

PLANO, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - Plano Police are on the scene of an apparent officer-involved shooting that took place in the east part of the city.

At about 4:30 p.m., police got a weapons call at a store near the intersection of 14th Street and Shiloh Road. Two men were shooting at each other when officers arrived, and police ordered both men to drop their weapons. Both shooters complied with the order.

Police said that one of the shooters was an off-duty officer in street clothes who was coming from training and stopped to get a drink. While he was in the store, another man got into a verbal argument with the store clerk and left to get his gun.

When the second man returned, he and the off-duty officer began shooting at one another.

Despite the number of rounds fired, police said nobody was hurt.

Another person of interest has been detained for questioning, but police are not sure how or if they are involved.
