PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - Parents and police departments all across North Texas are on alert after several 'stranger danger' cases. The latest one was reported in Plano, and authorities want to meet with parents and students in order to make sure that everyone stays safe.
Officials said that a boy was walking home late from Daffron Elementary School last week when he was approached by a man in a white minivan. The man asked the student if he needed a ride. But when the child said no, the man grabbed the boy.
The young student was able to get away, but the incident has area residents understandably nervous.
Authorities stated that the minivan has tinted windows, but the make and model are still not known. Since the incident, parents said that there has been an increased police presence around the elementary campus.
Police will also be holding a meeting from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Daffron Elementary School. The focus of the event is to teach parents and students about child safety techniques.
