SANGER (CBSDFW.COM) - A small plane was forced to make an emergency landing in the middle of a roadway on Wednesday morning just west of Sanger. The incident happened at around 8:00 a.m. near the intersection of Chapman Road and Dyer Road.
According to officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety, a student pilot and a flying instructor were inside of a Cessna 152 performing training maneuvers when the aircraft experienced some sort of engine problem and clipped a power line. The plane was brought down safely in the middle of Chapman Road.
The student and instructor then pushed the plane out of the two-lane road and into a nearby driveway in order to clear the area for passing vehicles.
There were no injuries reported during this incident. The plane suffered damage to its propeller and a wing.
About 50 homes and businesses in Denton County lost power on Wednesday morning as a result of the damaged power lines. Crews from CoServ Electric worked to restore service to those customers within about 90 minutes.
