Parents & Students Attend Meeting Supporting Suspended Teacher

COLLIN COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - As of 5 p.m. Thursday, a discussion was underway about the way a North Texas teacher handled what she says was a threat -- right in the middle of class.
Despite parents wanting it, news crews were not allowed inside a meeting at McClendon Elementary School, in the Collin County town of Nevada.
A lot of the adults said they have kept their children out of school since Tuesday, because of a student they worry will harm their kids. That student reportedly beat on a locked door and shouted he was going to kill teacher Judy Stough, while she and students huddled in a corner waiting for help.
Stough, a 4th grade teacher, was placed on administrative leave accused of escalating the incident and arguing that her frightened kids should be allowed to call their parents.
McClendon Elementary is in the Community Independent School District. The acting superintendent there said the student in question has behavioral issues and was never a threat. Parents say they are outraged that the child has been allowed back in school.
Moms like Brandie Bohmer are now demanding change. "She was protecting children in that class. She took a student; she locked him out of the class, because he said he wanted to kill them. In my opinion she saved all those kids… she was helping, trying to save all those kids."
Suspended teacher Judy Stough was just named teacher of the month in April.
