Man In Custody After Shooting Outside North Texas Junior Varsity Football Game

CARROLLTON, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A fight between two adult men at a junior varsity high school football game in Northeast Carrollton led to a shooting Thursday night, Carrollton police said.

A 31-year-old man from Fort Worth is in critical condition.

Police say the shooting happened during a junior varsity game between Hebron and Irving Nimitz.

Witness told police at around 8:30 p.m. that two men were fighting in the stands at the Hebron High School stadium. The men then went to the parking lot where witnesses reported hearing a gunshot.

When officers arrived, they took the shooter into custody. He is a 47-year-old man from Carrollton.

Police say there were no students injured or involved in the shooting.

There will be an increased police presence at Hebron High School on Friday, but police do not believe there is any danger to the students.
