DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Stevens Park Golf Course hosted the Assist the Officer Foundation Pro-Am for the benefit of the families of the 5 officers who were killed in the line of duty on July 7, 2016.

Dallas Chief of Police David Brown commented, "These were all men with families and loved ones, but the Dallas Police family continues to grieve and has a hard time dealing with this loss.  This is a big deal to our department, and we will never forget this outpouring of support.  All of the people who have given their time, their efforts and have written letters and given money to these families are so needed and have been an example to not just to Dallas, but to this country."

The City of Dallas Parks and Recreation Department along with their PGA golf professionals, led by Stevens Park Head Professional Jim Henderson, in conjunction with the Northern Texas PGA, raised $71,827.89 during the event. All proceeds from the event benefit the families of the 5 officers who were killed in the line of duty earlier this year.

"The donation that was made to the families of the officers killed on July 7 exceeded our expectations," said Mark Harrison, Executive Director and CEO of the Northern Texas PGA.
