ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM/KRLD) - One person has been shot during the attempted robbery of an armored car as it sat in a bank parking lot in Arlington.

The Bank of America, located at Green Oaks Blvd. and Little Road, is surrounded by officers and crime tape as the investigation continues.

Arlington police say the suspect was shot by a security guard.  Police were called to the scene at about 10:20 am.

A woman who witnessed the robbery attempt and shooting says she was sitting in the bank drive through as it happened.  "We were sitting there at the bank, waiting in line and then we see a guy running up to the armored truck with a hoodie and you could see a gun in his hand go behind the armored truck guy, take his money and take off.  The armored truck pulled out his gun and shot him three times."

The bank robbery suspect was taken to the hospital and is serious condition.
