LITTLE ELM, Texas (1080 KRLD) - Among the hundreds of accidents blamed on slippery conditions overnight, one has turned fatal.

Just before 8:00pm Wednesday there was a seven-car pile-up in Denton County along Highway 380 in Little Elm between Providence Village and Paloma Creek.

After the collision, several of the drivers were standing on the highway inspecting the damage when another vehicle crashed into the wreckage.

A Denton County man was trapped under a vehicle and died.

"The roadway is very slick with ice and extremely hazardous," said Assistant Police Chief Rodney Harrison. "Those conditions clearly contributed to the initial accident and to the subsequent crash of the seventh vehicle."

Investigators are still trying to determine the sequence of events and the circumstances that led to the accident.

The deceased has not been identified pending next-of-kin notification.
