DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - One person was killed late Saturday afternoon after driving on the left shoulder of eastbound LBJ Freeway in Dallas.

Traffic was backing up going eastbound when police say the driver decided to try going around it.

The driver hit a vehicle that was traveling in the left lane. Police say this caused the first vehicle to rotate into the concrete wall along the freeway.

The driver also hit another vehicle causing both cars to catch fire killing the driver who was trying to get around the traffic.

Police say no one else was hurt.
