DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — Police say the driver of a car was dead on the scene of a fiery crash in Dallas, south of downtown, early Saturday morning.

Police say the 1990s Ford Expedition crashed into a tunnel support beam on Corinth Street near Riverfront Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. A witness saw the car driving fast toward South Lamar Street, toward downtown, when it began drifting to the left, into the oncoming lanes, until it crashed and caught fire, according to Dallas Police Department.

The driver, pinned inside the car, was dead at the scene, police say. No further information on the driver or the car, which suffered extensive damage, was available.
