Northwestern State Stops Abilene Christian 34-10

ABILENE (AP) — Garrett Atzenweiler had two rushing touchdowns and caught a pass for another to lead Northwestern State to a 34-10 win over Abilene Christian on Saturday.

Zach Adkins, who has now thrown 16 touchdown passes in the last five games, hit Atzenweiler on a 10-yard scoring pass for a 27-10 lead at the end of the third quarter. Atzenweiler scored from the 16 with 4:49 remaining in the game to seal the win.

Adkins finished with 238 yards passing and one touchdown for Northwestern State (5-5, 3-3 Southland Conference). Ed Eagan pulled in 13 of those passes for 126 yards.

Parker McKenzie, who missed last Saturday's game because of a concussion, returned to throw for 270 yards and one touchdown for ACU (5-6, 3-4). McKenzie was picked off three times.

The Wildcats, trailing 27-10, were on Northwestern State's 3 early in the fourth quarter when Marion Chapman recovered a McKenzie fumble to stop that drive.
