Northwest ISD Bus Full Of Students Crashes In Denton County

DENTON COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - A Northwest ISD school bus was involved in a rollover crash Tuesday afternoon while transporting 18 students from Justin Elementary School.

The accident happened at Bill Cook Lane and FM 407. The Texas Department of Public Safety says it was a single-vehicle accident caused by the bus losing control and rolling on its side, according to preliminary investigation.

Officials confirmed there were 18 students and one driver on the bus at the time of the crash. Seven students were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The bus driver was not transported to a hospital from the scene, according to Texas DPS.

Here is video of the bus being uprighted after students were safely removed from the bus.

The remaining students were transported back to Justin Elementary where families were able to pick up their children.

Emergency crews from Wise County and the Justin and Ponder Fire Departments were at the scene, aiding in the crash.

A spokesperson for Northwest ISD says the bus did not have seat belts.
