COMMERCE (CBSDFW.COM) - A 28-year-old Commerce mother was arrested Tuesday for injury to a child.

Commerce Police say shortly after 9:00 a.m. a detective went to AC Williams Elementary School in reference to a 3rd grade student that showed up for school with visible injuries.

Investigators determined the child was struck by the mother with a shoe, belt, and broomstick Monday night.

Because of the severity of the injuries, a warrant has been issued with a recommended bond of $80,000 for injury to a child (causing bodily injury), which is a 3rd degree felony. The suspect, who police have not identified yet, is in the Hunt County Jail where she is awaiting arraignment.
