Nine-Foot Gator Spotted Near Lake Lewisville

LEWISVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - An approximately nine-foot gator was spotted in a drainage ditch near Lake Lewisville Monday.

Two pictures of the gator were posted on the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Facebook page on Tuesday morning.

The post reads: "While doing a daily assessment Monday, June 15 out at Lewisville Lake, Lake Manager Rob Jordan was greeted by a "guest". An approximately 9 foot gator was seen in a drainage ditch at the toe of the dam on the downstream side. It was near the Elm Fork of the Trinity River adjacent to swampy area that is currently inundated with water being released from the lake. Alligators naturally shy away from humans but remember do not approach or attempt to feed them. Using these safety precautions could minimize a potentially dangerous situation. Lewisville Lake personnel see alligators occasionally but this one was ready for its close up."
