DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Big Tex has a brand new outfit for the upcoming 2016 State Fair of Texas...with an added heartwarming touch.

The biggest cowboy in Texas gets a fresh set of duds every few years, but this new outfit includes a special tribute.

Featured on his new black Dickies shirt, Big Tex will wear a police ribbon to honor the five police officers killed in a downtown Dallas sniper attack in July.

Karissa Condoianis with the State Fair of Texas says it's a just small token of appreciation and remembrance.

While Dickies designed Big Tex's new outfit as they always do, the ribbon was added by someone else.

Condoianis says she told only a few people about the ribbon before today's reveal so that everyone could share in the experience together.

Besides his fresh shirt and jeans, Big Tex also has a new belt buckle with this year written on it.
