BALCH SPRINGS - (CBSDFW.COM) - A Balch Springs woman is in jail accused of causing the death of a two-year-old. Following his death she tried to raise him from the dead in a religious ceremony.

According to police Aracely Meza performed a religious ceremony to "raise" the child from death. This however, is not what landed her in jail.

Police say the child was neglected by Meza. He was was malnourished, wasn't fed, and was only given water for twenty-five days.

The house where the child died was owned by Meza and her husband. It had rabbits in the backyard, operated as a church and rehabilitation center.

According to a detailed police report, the two year old lived in the house with his parents.

Witnesses claimed Meza said the child was demon possessed and they were told not to feed him.

The report indicates other women in the home saw Meza hold the dead baby, saying God was going to perform a miracle.

Meza is in custody, accused of injury to a child.
