NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (KRLD-AM) - The department has been looking for a man who shot Traffic Officer Jeff Garner back in March of 2003.

While an investigation has not established an identity of the gunman, it revealed that he not only robbed a bank in Watauga just prior to the shooting, he also robbed at least six other banks in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

"We consider it a cold case, but we do not consider it an unsolvable case," says Detective Keith Bauman.

Detective Keith Bauman says it's especially important that this guy be caught, because he shot Officer Garner near a school.

"If this individual doesn't even concern himself with the safety of an officer, he isn't going to concern himself with the safety of a person's child or somebody else who just may be out," says Bauman.

So the North Richland Hills Police Department has launched a website in hopes of finding this man.

"The website that we put up has surveillance videos from several of the robberies that occurred," says Bauman. "We have the original radio traffic from our officer's contact with this individual. We have a wanted poster."

And it lists the sponsors who have made a reward possible.

"It's up to a $13,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of this individual."

As for Officer Garner, "He was shot in the lower extremities and has been able to make a full recovery."

Garner has since been promoted to lieutenant, in charge of the department's professional standards unit.
