DALLAS (CBSNewsTexas.com) — Two separate shootings over two days at the same location in southwest Dallas left one person dead and five others injured.

It's been a deadly week in the city of Dallas. According to the Dallas Police Department, there have been nine homicides in the city since Monday.

Police said that at about 3:45 p.m. on Friday, several calls came in about a shooting at the 7400 block of South Westmoreland Road. Officers who responded to the scene found Jacory Simpson, 23, shot inside the business. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Another man, Donavon Jones, 19, had already been taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound. He died of his injuries on Saturday.

Investigators believe that Simpson was in the parking lot of a business when he got into an argument with Taquan Cooks, 20, who allegedly shot him.

Simpson then approached Jones and allegedly shot him. Simpson tried to leave the area, but ran inside the building instead.

Simpson was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he remains today. Police have obtained arrest warrants for murder and unlawfully carrying a weapon. Cooks was charged with assault with serious bodily injury and is being held at the Dallas County Jail.

A day later, on March 18 at about 9:20 p.m., police were once again called to the location on multiple reports of a shooting.

Officers found that a crowd had gathered for a candlelight vigil for a homicide victim when a passenger in a white Chrysler opened fire. Four people were hit and taken to the hospital in stable condition. Police said that some in the crowd fired back.

Police are investigating both shootings and are working to determine if they are related.
