Mother's Day Miracle Made Possible By Internet
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A North Texas mother celebrated her first Mother's Day this year after enduring 6 failed pregnancies.
Keva Montrose and her husband, Dan, never gave up hope they would one day have a family, even after six miscarriages in 3 years.
Their problem was not getting pregnant, but staying pregnant.
"Making it all the way to 20 weeks and having a loss at that point is wildly more painful," Dan Montrose said.
Even surgery did not help.
On a whim, Keva Montrose decided to enter a video contest where the winner would enjoy a free IVF cycle from Sher Feritility Institute. To their surprise, they won.
The couple decided they would let a surrogate mother use their free cycle.
They chose a surrogate through a Dallas agency.
Courtneigh Scott carried their baby until December 21st, when Remington Scott Montrose was born.
"He's a perfect little miracle," Keva Montrose said.
Their fertility doctor, Dr. Walid Saleh of the Sher Fertillity Institute met Remington for the first time on Mother's day.
About 10% of the population experience infertility, but with medical intervention many people can realize their dream of having children.
"Most people can, in the end. It's just a question of trying and not giving up. It's like everything in life," Dr. Saleh said.
"If I focused on the setbacks in pregnancy I maybe would have given up at some point and we wouldn't be here," Keva Montrose said.
Celebrating her first Mother's Day, Montrose says she has a new appreciation for mothers.
On this Mother's day, the gift of motherhood is priceless.
