The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office has released the identity of a woman, who Fort Worth police say was allegedly stabbed to death by her son Friday night.

Mirlande Ciprien, 51, suffered a stab wound to the neck, and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner.

Her son, identified as 21-year-old Malachyah Ciprien, has been charged with murder, the Fort Worth Police Department told CBS News Texas.

Domestic incident leads to stabbing

Fort Worth police said officers responded to a home in the 4800 block of Cargill Circle just before 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, after a "cutting call." When they arrived, officers found Mirlande Ciprien with apparent stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the suspect, Malachyah Ciprien, was found nearby with a possible self‑inflicted wound and was taken into custody. He was transferred to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators said the incident appears to have stemmed from a domestic altercation between Mirlande Ciprien and her son.

Homicide detectives are investigating.

CBS News Texas will provide updates as more information becomes available.
