DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The group, Preservation Dallas unveiled its 2016 most endangered historic places on Monday.

This list recognizes the many significant properties that make up our neighborhoods and reflect the lives of community leaders, important architects and builders, and the families who made Dallas their home, according to a Preservation Dallas news release.

The group said the 2016 list includes are places that are important to the diverse history of our city and are tied to the neighborhoods and communities where they are located.

"We hope this list of endangered properties makes the citizens of Dallas aware of how many important historic buildings are at risk of being lost forever. Preservation Dallas sees this list as an opportunity for all of us to be more thoughtful in how the city grows and develops." said Nicky DeFreece Emery, Board President of Preservation Dallas.

The group said said DART's proposed D-2 line through downtown puts several historic buildings in danger.

Preservation Dallas' report also pointed to a lack of resources for Fair Park that has left several historic buildings in disrepair.

It's so important that those buildings are preserved and maintained for the future. and we need to do it now because they're getting to a condition where they need work and if they don't have the work they'll continue to deteriorate and it will only be more expensive down the line," said David Preziosi, Executive Director of Preservation Dallas.

Another endangered building, the Penson House in Highland Park goes up for auction Tuesday.
