Monta Ellis Agrees To 4-Year Deal With Pacers

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- The Dallas Mavericks were widely expected to part ways with free agent shooting guard Monta Ellis. That expectation has become a reality.
Ellis has agreed to a four-year, $44 million deal with a player option after the third year with the Indiana Pacers, CBS Sports confirms.
The 29-year-old opted out of his $8.7 million option for next season with Dallas, becoming an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday.
The 11-year veteran averaged 18.9 points last season, becoming the first player not named Dirk Nowitzki to lead Dallas in scoring since 1999-2000.
Ellis has averaged 19.3 points, 4.8 assists, and 1.7 steals since being drafted in 2005 out of Lanier High School in Jackson, Mississippi.
Dallas could still potentially work a sign-and-trade with Indiana, though it's unclear if the teams have discussed the possibility.
