Monday Morning Meltdown: Cowboys Win 20-17 In OT

DALLAS, Texas (105.3 THE FAN) - The Dallas Cowboys knocked out yet another opponent to bump their record up to 4-1. We could dissect this thing and say, yeah but neither the Texans ,nor the Cowboys have beaten a really worthy opponent, but I'll sit on the "hey this team is 4-1 and I'm happy with that" argument for a while.
Now, attention turns to a game that could actually validate the Cowboys as a true contender, and that's the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks.
Hope for an entirely healthy team and let's see what this team is actually capable of.
Around the Rest of the NFL
Austin Davis goes 375 for 3 TD's against the Eagles and still loses 34-28. He also fumbled twice and the team had a blocked punt in the end zone for a TD. That's the second blocked punt for a TD in consecutive weeks, the Ravens were the last team to do that in 2002.
The Giants win at home against the Falcons, and that's starting to concern me. Eli Manning is starting to spread the ball around, the running game is producing steady numbers with a bunch of different backs, and the defense is doing enough to win. They've given up a lot of points, but have averaged 35 ppg in their 3 straight wins. Don't sleep on these Giants.
Congratulations to Peyton Manning for hitting No. 500. Then he added 501, 502 and 503 real quick with the help of Demaryius Thomas who blew up for 226 yards and two TD's on 8 catches. What?!!! I've said it before Thomas is a faster, maybe more explosive version of Dez Bryant. I think he can play at a top speed because his QB is so accurate and quick on his reads. Would love to see if Dez would have different numbers with Manning.
Alex Smith was unable to do what all former Niners turned Chiefs QB's have been unable to do. That's win their returning game against their former team. Joe Montana, Elvis Grbac and Steve Deberg all failed to win that game. BUT the cool thing is Joe Montana was the last Chiefs QB to win a playoff game. So that's something to live on…if you're a Niners fan I guess.
The Chargers have beaten 3 straight weak opponents, but you look back at that win against Seattle and think maybe that was the confidence they needed. San Diego has always been a sexy pick and their D is holding opponents to 8 points a game in their last three…but those are against Buffalo, Jacksonville and the Jets. And now they have the pleasure of playing the Raiders next week, who I've been told may have gotten routed during the bye week.
All those Brady haters gone or nah?
Then again Brian Hoyer did have the exact same number of passing yards 292 and 1 more passing TD than Brady, so maybe there is a point.
Anybody else think Kyle Orton is perfect to take the Bills to a Super Bowl and lose it? I'm in on that if it's a matchup against the Cowboys. 308 yards and a TD, I still think he just wanted to play and knew he wasn't going to get his shot to finish out his career in Dallas with anymore playing time than a game here or there.
The Bears jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter and a half, then bled out each quarter going from 14, 7, 3, 0. I don't see anything different in this team than in the past other than they're defense isn't quite as good.
