Monday: Hottest Day of the Year So Far

Did you know that this is the coolest start to summer in the last eight years? Since the record year of 2011 we've had less and less summer heat four years in a row.

This is about to change. Today (Sunday) logged as the hottest day of July so far. Tomorrow we'll likely get the hottest day of YEAR so far. We'll go from below-average temperatures last work week to above-normal temperatures this coming work week:

We have yet to log a 100° day at DFW this year. Just like last year we expect the first to occur on July 13th.. tomorrow:

The heat index tomorrow will likely top out around 106° so drink plenty of fluids, wear light-colored clothing, seek shade often, and never leave a child or pet in a parked car. We are getting into the summer heat because of an upper-level high pressure system sitting over Texas. Today it is slightly to the west of us. Tomorrow it'll be right overhead as it drifts east:

When it is east of us we'll have temperatures just a few degrees cooler. Right now it appears it'll drift right back over us as we close the work week and get into the weekend:

This is a hot weather pattern and it is a very dry weather pattern. This looks to be the longest dry spell of the season ahead. The long-range forecast model shows not a drop of rain over Texas in the six days ahead.
