Moment 44: Ellis Rumbles For Long Touchdown

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Dallas Cowboys knew that Greg Ellis was quick when they selected him in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft. What they did not know is that the Cowboys defensive end could run long distances as well.

In 1999, Ellis ran a long way to help shut down an Arizona Cardinals rally.

With the Cardinals threatening, deep in Cowboys territory, Ellis and Darren Woodson combined to force an Arizona fumble at the two-yard line. Ellis quickly recovered the ball and then ran, or rumbled, 98 yards for the touchdown.

Ellis' cross country jaunt broke Chuck Howely's 33-year-old record for longest fumble return in team history. It iced the team's 35-7 win over the Cardinals, and stands as one of the greatest moment in Cowboys history.
